Estanteka is a personal library for iPhone and Apple Watch. It is designed to work on your device: it has no user accounts and no servers of its own, shows no ads, uses no analytics and does not track you. We do not receive or store your data.
1. Data that stays on your device
All of this is stored only on your iPhone (and your Apple Watch, if you use it) and never reaches us:
- Your library: books, editions, copies, locations, loans, ratings, reviews, notes, highlights, quotes and reading statistics.
- The book files you import (EPUB, PDF, TXT and others) and the audiobooks you generate.
- The name the app greets you with.
- The photos you take or choose (covers, dedications, where a book is kept).
- The voice reviews you record with the microphone.
- Your preferences (style, reading theme, goals).
- The optional keys and passwords you type in Settings (for example your own Google Books key or your DILVE credentials). They are kept in the iOS Keychain, on this device only.
If you have iCloud Backup or computer backups turned on, iOS may include this data in them according to your Apple settings. The backups you export from Settings (ZIP, JSON or CSV files) are stored wherever you choose.
2. Device permissions
Estanteka only asks for these permissions, when you use the feature:
- Camera: to scan a book's barcode (ISBN) and to photograph covers, dedications or where a book is kept. Scanning is processed on the device.
- Microphone: to record voice reviews. Recordings are stored on your device.
- Photos: to choose an image from your library and, only if you tap "Save image" when sharing a review, to add that image to Photos.
You can withdraw any permission in iOS Settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
3. External services the app connects to
For some features the app connects directly from your device to third-party services. We do not act as an intermediary. As with any internet connection, each service receives your IP address and technical request data (such as the device type) and handles them under its own privacy policy. Your notes, your library and the content of your books are never sent.
| Purpose | Service | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Look up a book's details | Google Books (Google), Open Library (Internet Archive), National Library of Spain | The ISBN, or the title and author you search for |
| Complete records of Spanish books | Todos tus libros (CEGAL), Agapea, Libros del Asteroide and publishers' websites | The ISBN or title you search for |
| Download covers | Open Library, Google Books, Casa del Libro, Amazon and the image addresses returned by the catalogues | The ISBN included in the image address |
| Find and download free public-domain books | Project Gutenberg and Gutendex | Your search terms and the chosen book |
| Download the voice model used to create audiobooks (only if you ask) | Hugging Face | No personal data; only the model files are downloaded |
| Query DILVE (only if you set up your account) | DILVE | The ISBN and your DILVE credentials |
Audiobook generation runs entirely on your device with a local artificial-intelligence model: the text of your books never leaves your iPhone. The voice is synthetic, generated by AI.
4. Apple Watch
If you use Estanteka on Apple Watch, the iPhone sends the watch the text of your EPUB and PDF books, their covers and your reading position, and the watch sends back where you are. This exchange happens directly between your paired devices through Apple's system (WatchConnectivity), without going through any server of ours.
5. Sharing
When you share a review, a quote or a file, the iOS share sheet is used. You choose with whom and with which app; what you share is subject to that app's or person's policy.
6. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete books, notes, recordings and audiobooks in the app, and the voice model in Settings. If you uninstall Estanteka, iOS removes all its data from the device. Since we have no servers, we keep no copy.
7. Your rights
Because your data never leaves your device, you can view it, export it (Settings → backup) and delete it yourself at any time. For any question or to exercise your data-protection rights, write to soporte@luquita.org. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or your local authority.
8. Children
Estanteka collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
9. Changes
If what the app does with your data changes, we will update this page and the date above.
